The Hebridean Sea Safari includes two nights exploring the Scottish coastline and two nights at the celebrated Scottish castle. Guests can also choose to take a more bespoke trip, by including more nights along the coastline.

With all the comforts of Glenapp Castle, guests travel with a professional crew who not only look after them, they also take them on an adventure to remote islands, coastal castles, and distant inns. What’s more, a private chef joins the team on board to cook up sumptuous feasts along the way, with goodies such as lobster, oysters, indulgent racks of lamb and mackerel. These ambrosial delicacies are fresh and delicious and are exactly what guests need on this boating adventure.

Guests are accompanied by Roddy Leitch, the boat’s exuberant skipper. Roddy was the longest serving RNLI Cox (lifeboatman) at Glenapp’s home port of Girvan, as well as being the former harbour master, so he knows the area like the back of his hand. Not only is his knowledge of the local area incredible, but his expertise in Scottish sea life is also hugely impressive.

The clear waters off the Ayrshire coast are teeming with marine life, from twenty-foot-long basking sharks to dolphins, minke whales, and seals. Ailsa Craig, one of the stop-offs on the trip, is a beautiful wildlife sanctuary; home to over 40,000 birds, including puffins, guillemots, gannets and razorbills and, with a summit at a height of 1,100 feet, it really is the perfect setting to discover the vast array of bird-life living on this spectacular Scottish home.

As the adventure continues, the team at Glenapp Castle is one step ahead of the voyage, arriving in advance of the travelling team to pitch the luxury glamping tents and cook up a feast. The camp is positioned in unique and remote locations, just perfect for those Scottish sunsets.

Whilst sipping on a local dram, late evenings are spent looking out over the colourful scenery and calming waters, before retreating to the luxury glamping tent in the wild. Inspired by the classical African safari adventure; the teepees are opulent yet undeniably comfortable. Not only do the tents have beautiful, enticing beds with flocculent duvets, they also beckon warm Tartan rugs and, most importantly, hot water for a relaxing shower. After a well-earned rest, Glenapp Castle’s chefs are up early preparing breakfast, ready for the next leg of the journey.

Every day offers something new; travelling between islands, guests are constantly on the lookout for sea creatures however they are also given the chance to go ashore to visit an ancient monastery, an archaeological site, a hidden castle garden and a whisky distillery. Ardbeg Distillery, on the Isle of Islay, offers a spot of whisky-tasting.
