Costa Daurada Manchester Trade Workshop

The Brief

The Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Tarragona (FEHT) engaged The PC Agency’s trade marketing team to increase destination awareness and build stronger connections with UK travel agents. In November, the team organised a dedicated agent workshop in Manchester, targeting the quality agents and operators in and around the city.

Their goal was to showcase the region’s diverse offerings, create meaningful opportunities for agents to engage directly with destination partners, and maintain momentum beyond the event. Hosting the workshop in November helped position Costa Daurada at the front of mind for agents, ahead of the peak January booking period, as agents prepare for the busy sales season. By delivering a focused workshop supported by follow-up communication with partner resources, Costa Daurada aimed to remain a top choice for agents selling Spanish beach, family and experience-led holidays.

The Event/Activity

Held on the 20th November at Tast Catala, the workshop brought together FEHT partners and UK travel agents for an evening designed to inform, inspire and connect. The evening began with an extended workshop of dedicated partner interaction, allowing agents to rotate between tables, meeting with all ten partners ranging from hotels to activity providers and local tourism boards, including Best Hotels, Via Jes Velero and Salou Tourist Board - each providing unique and in-depth local insight for the agents.

The evening continued with a relaxed and informal phase, including a welcome speech from an FEHT representative, followed by an inspiring destination video showcasing the highlights of Costa Daurada. This led to a well-received prize draw with generous partner giveaways, which agents had been encouraged to enter on arrival by giving their business cards - a simple but effective way for FEHT to collect valuable agent contact data.

Catalan-style canapés and drinks were served throughout, contributing to a warm and engaging atmosphere. On the night, The PC Agency managed all operational elements, including AV and venue setup, communication with the venue, partner table allocation, promotional material distribution, guest registration, prize draw coordination and the opportunity for agents to meet with all partners exhibiting at the event.

The Results

The PC Agency secured 39 travel agents and tour operators to attend the event, including representatives from Travel Counsellors, TUI, Dial-A-Flight and Travelbag. The extensive guest list ensured high levels of engagement and productive conversations between the partners and FEHT. After the event, The PC Agency sent personalised follow-up emails to every attendee, including a link to a Business Guide provided by FEHT containing contact details and profiles of all partners who had attended the event. This helped support continued dialogue between the agents and partners, with the aim of increasing future sales.

The feedback was extremely positive, with many agents highlighting how valuable the format and content were for boosting their destination knowledge. Several attendees shared comments such as:

“The event was really good - great to learn more about the area and all it has to offer our clients.”- Dial a Flight

“Thank you again for the invitation; I received beneficial information that night. I had the opportunity to speak with most of the partners.” - Miro Travel

“Such a fantastic evening learning about the area - certainly lots to take away, and I look forward to promoting the area much more.” - Fairclough Travel

Feedback consistently reflected a deeper understanding of the Costa Daurada product and increased confidence in recommending the destination to clients.

Overall, the workshop enhanced Costa Daurada’s visibility within the UK travel trade, equipped agents with the tools and contacts needed to actively sell the region and reinforced strong relationships with key trade partners.
