The Brief

As travel began to open up again post pandemic, the Kenya Tourism Board were keen to leverage this opportunity to showcase that the destination was once again open and safe for travel, and to increase booking numbers. The PC Agency proposed hosting a VIP event in London inviting travel trade and media to highlight the unique offerings of Kenya, ensuring the destination was front of mind for post-pandemic travel.

Our Approach

In order to attract top-tier media and trade to the event, and have maximum impact, the PC Agency suggested an exclusive networking event, followed by a viewing of Disney’s The Lion King at the Lyceum theatre in London’s West End.

The PC Agency researched and sourced an elegant venue close to the theatre to host a networking reception with pre-show drinks and canapés. Using our exclusive database, the PC Agency invited prominent travel journalists and senior decision makers of top tour operators, who were able to experience the magic of Kenya thanks to a lively performance from an African dance troupe. The PC Agency arranged for key figures from MagicalKenya to speak at the event, including the Deputy High Commissioner for Kenya, Joakin K Kamere and Grace Maina, Marketing Manager for Europe at Kenya Tourism Board.

After the reception, attendees were escorted to the Lyceum Theatre to enjoy a performance of Disney’s The Lion King. The award-winning musical was the perfect way for guests to be immersed in the essence of Kenya, the home of Pride Rock.

After experiencing the magic of Kenya, attendees were gifted with a goody bag filled with Kenyan products including chocolate, tea and coffee as well as an e-media kit produced by The PC Agency.

The Results

The event received excellent feedback, with attendees delighted to once again attend face-to-face events.
We welcomed over 115 top-tier media titles and trade contacts, including the Evening Standard, The Times, Wanderlust, Cosmopolitan, Kuoni, Scott Dunn and the Africa Collection.

“I won’t be the first to congratulate you on such a fabulous evening – wow it was such a treat for us all on every level. The dancers, the knockout venue and hosted by your super team who it was great to see in person again. And then The Lion King – a night I’ll remember forever, I’m sure. Huge thanks to you and also to the team.”
