Retreat East is a new concept for the growing number of city-dwellers who are looking for a second home without the cost or hassle and with additional luxuries. Functioning as a private member’s club with a spa and gorgeous bedrooms in the heart of the beautiful Suffolk countryside, Retreat East is the ultimate relaxation in what is effectively a home away from home. Sustainable property entrepreneur Dominic Richards created Retreat East in large part in response to the "ghost village phenomenon" and increase in second homes in Suffolk.
Debenture holders pay a one-off cost and are entitled to stay for 15 nights a year and an unlimited number of day visits to the farm when they just fancy escaping the city. Membership lasts a lifetime, can be passed on to future generations, and is extended to their ‘associates’ including spouse, adult children and siblings.
Retreat East comprises 20 luxuriously furnished barns to stay in, a restaurant centred around local produce, a Turkish hammam, Finnish sauna, outdoor hot tub, gym, billiards table and cinema. Each barn has been beautifully designed; high ceilings and wooden beams arch overhead and the original doorframes have been preserved, echoing back to the farm’s history.
